State looted with politicians’ blessings

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy recently said the Public Private Partnership (PPP) concept should benefit both, the state and private players, and that it was not meant for looting the public exchequer. Ironically, the CM made this comment at a function organised by the Kakinada Sea Ports Limited (KSPL), the private operator of the Kakinada deep water port, which is a prime example of the very ‘looting of the exchequer’ he was talking about. The KSPL is, of course, not an isolated case in the state where successive governments of Telugu Desam and Congress have paved the way for scores of private players to amass huge amounts of wealth under the guise of inviting private companies for investments.
