Average wages gone up in India

The average number of employees and their wages have gone up in the country.  According to the  annual survey of industries released for the year 2008-09 yesterday, the emoluments of the employees in factories across the country increased by over 23 percent as compared to nearly eight and a half percent in the previous year.  The survey  however said that the level of efficiency of the workers showed a decline. The total invested capital at the all India level grew by 20 percent with Maharashtra at the top of the tally followed by Tamilnadu. The manufacturing units in the country added 5 lakh 30 thousand crore rupees to the national income in 2008-09 showing an increase of more than nine and a half percent over the previous year.  The study has also indicated that the highest number of working factories is in Tamilnadu followed by Maharashtra.
